About Me

I’m James Fox, the therapist behind SilverFox Massage and Bodywork. After a long corporate career I learned the importance of self-care, and the benefits of massage and mindfulness in sustaining a healthy, happy life.

All of us carry stress in our bodies, whether from the emotional strains of life, from exercise or from injury. Through receiving massage myself I recognized the value of bodywork and started my journey to becoming a full-time therapist.

My Approach

I offer Holistic and Deep Tissue Massage, often together in the single session. While Sports Massage has become popular in recent years, and has it’s place in ‘fixing’ injury, what we often need more is for us to stop ‘holding’ the tension and to relax. Deep work is difficult if we’re tense, because the muscles won’t let you in.

‘Holistic’ just means considering your whole self. Our initial consultation seeks to identify where you hold stress, tension or injury; where we will focus our time together; and what kind of work and pressure you like. All the way through the massage I will check in with you as what is deep for some isn’t deep enough for others. It’s completely personal.

I’ve curated unique spaces that I think add to the experience, and will be offering sound experiences, couples massage with fellow practitioners; and I welcome all genders, faiths, and people to my practise as a safe space to heal.

I hold a Level 4 Diploma from the Bristol College of Massage and Bodywork, a comprehensive 1-year course and am a member of the Massage Training Institute. I’m fully insured for public liability and mal-practise with Balens Insurance.

In Bristol I practise in the wonderful Yurt, at Westbury-on-Trym Wildlife Park. In Bath, in my own home, I have a cosy room with wood-burning stove, particularly special in Winter. If you aren’t able to travel I can also come to you, schedule permitting, with no extra charge for BA/BS postcodes.

In 2026 I’m launching a therapy garden next to the Yurt, in memory of my late Father Paul, as a space to reflect for all, and for outdoor massage amongst flowers, birds and wind chimes, a very exciting and personally meaningful endeavour.
